Tween Girls Power Business Shoot

The Tween Girls Power Business shoot by Karen M Jenkins of Spirit & Soul Photography was a fun editorial shoot that was conceptualized as a reflection of my interest in entrepreneurship, fashion, photography, and tween girls. As a budding female entrepreneur, I’m always looking for interesting ideas to put in front of my camera.

While the idea to have tween girls role play as business women, seemed quite organic to me, a lot of pre-planning went into this editorial fashion shoot, as it does for all my photo shoots.

Using my resources, I discovered a location that was idea. It reflected my brand and style driven approach for bright, and airy light within a modern, contemporary environment. Where else, but a local university!  Beautiful, contemporary furniture, large windows allowing extra light to pour into the well-lit university atrium.

For this shoot, I wanted to capture both an education and a fun experience for the girls. They got to visit a large university and see college kids studying in their habitat. I talked to them about the purpose and mission of a university. I also engaged the girls to talk about their dreams and aspirations before the shoot started.

For the fun stuff, I secured clothing from a local children’s boutique, The Spotted Goose, on Madison Avenue  (Cincinnati) that carries great children's clothing brands. The young ladies wore Tea Collection and Joules Knitwear for their business wear along with a 60’s  inspired clothing line called FaithWorks4U.

Pre-planning for the shoot, took a couple of weeks. With help from the girl’s parents they assisted with carrying out the logistics for the shoot such as taking their daughters to fittings, following through with suggested hairstyles, eyeglasses, hair pieces, jewelry and selecting purses and shoes for the shoot.

They also followed the shoot plan by bringing office props such as I-pads, and cell phones.  Even details like a silver pen and a clipboard were selected to give the shoot a realistic feel.

The green and white dress is by FaithWorks4U, a 60's-70's inspired fashion collection.

To get into the role of a business- woman, the girls used their imagination and did quite well, but to loosen up on the job, as we all like to do sometime, most of the times! :), I used balloons to add additional fun to the shoot.

I like taking artistic looking pictures. But, I especially,  love the subtle smile on Chandler's face
along with the light and airy background.

Moroccan inspired Tea dress Collection. A nice dress for the job.

Fun, pretty blue and white accent. Dress by Tea Collection.

Don't you wish you could feel this way on your job! Yay!

The girls, their parents, and I enjoyed the fashion editorial shoot and we feel the girls nailed it.
